A few weeks ago, I bought a couple of chickens. Two came in this particular package, and it was 30% off, so I thought, "Why not?". I then went home and threw them in the freezer.
We decided to have company over for dinner on Sunday. As our guests were three and we were two, I thought, "Five people, two chickens? Why not?". I lovingly slathered those two birds in my own special seasoning mix (mostly consisting of butter), and I threw them in the oven.
I overestimated how much meat five people can eat and I underestimated how much meat two chickens can make. We had quite a few leftovers. Being resourceful, I thought, "Chicken pot pie for dinner tomorrow? Why not?", and I threw that chicken in the fridge.
After a light lunch of cold chicken, I made my pot pie filling. The last of my potatoes, the two skinny carrots, the wimpy celery, half an onion, and the rest of the leftover chicken. I spooned my filling into my crust and sadly had leftovers. I had made too much. My pie pan would hold no more. I thought, "More leftovers for dinner on Tuesday? Why not?". I spooned the rest of the filling into a casserole dish, and threw it in the fridge and the pie in the oven.
Keith and I ate a wonderful pot pie dinner, but we didn't eat it all. I thought, "Leftovers for lunch? Why not?", and Keith threw it in the fridge.
After a lunch of reheated chicken pot pie, I had to decide what to do with the leftover chicken filling in the fridge. I thought, "Biscuit top instead of pie crust? Why not?". So I made some biscuits and threw them in the oven as well as my topped chicken-filled casserole dish.
After Keith's and my delicious chicken and biscuit dinner, our two chickens are finally gone. 3 days, 5 meals, 11 plates. We ate every last scrap.
But now I have some extra biscuits....
