Our Week

This last week has been a bit of a crazy one.  On Sunday we received news that Keith's grandpa wasn't doing well. We drove to Vernon, spent the night, and then Keith and his dad left for Saskatchewan at 3 AM Monday morning. 14 hours of driving later they arrived on Grandpa and Grandma's.  Grandpa and Grandma had no idea that they were coming, so they received a surprise when they opened their door.  After a short discussion, it was decided that Grandma and Grandpa would move to Vernon that day.  Keith and his dad packed for a couple hours, filled two cars with stuff and people, and then they started the drive home.

The rest of us in Vernon had about 24 hours to find and furnish an apartment for Grandma and Grandpa to live in.  It was quite the whirlwind of events and took a lot of work, but by the time they arrived at 10 pm on Wednesday, we had a two bedroom apartment with a bed, couch, recliner, desk, tv, and end tables with a stocked kitchen ready for them.

It really was amazing how quickly everything came together.  Just the fact that Grandpa was willing to move (after multiple attempts in the past) was a miracle.  He told me that he had had a dream the night before Keith and his dad showed up at his door, telling him that it was time to leave.  Coincidence?  I think not.  We then found a vacant apartment that they could rent that day.  Family and friends had unused/extra furniture that they donated, and we found good deals on the things we needed to buy.  I definitely feel like Heavenly Father was helping us out.

Grandpa is still a little under the weather, but he is doing tons better in just the few days that he has been in town.  He is eating more, his color is better, and he has more energy.  It will be great to spend more time with him and Grandma as they now live close enough for us to visit often.
