However, while living in Taiwan, where absolutely no Mexican food is available, I missed it. I missed the beans and the tortillas and the guacamole and the salsa. It was one of the first things I wanted when I got home.
Now, living in Canada, I find myself in a very similar situation as in Taiwan. The difference here is that Mexican food is available, but no one eats it. It is just not something Canadians do. And if you do, it is expensive. Expensive as in it costs $5 for a pack of 10 flour tortillas at the grocery store. Ridiculous. So, to make myself and my stomach feel a little better, I decided to make a little southern comfort--a big old batch of salsa fresca.
Wish me luck as I try to convince the locals tonight at the BBQ that Mexican isn't so bad.

I had no idea that you didn't like Mexican food because I can definitely remember conversations about Mexican food in Taiwan.
