Although my life isn't very exciting, I sometimes like to pretend it is.

Pouring
This week has been a doozie. Note, it wasn't at all bad--in fact, it has been rather humorous and exciting--but it has been stressful as well.
From Monday to today (Sunday), not only did I get dumped (see Saturday's post), but I had three tests in school (all of which went poorly), was given a two-week notice at work (my contract is up, but the jury still seems to be out on that one) and my car battery died.
So, to sum up, I am failing school, have no transportation, am single and possibly unemployed. Fun.
I didn't think I'd ever say it, but I'm actually glad tomorrow is Monday. A new week; a new start. Maybe things will begin looking up.

The Break Up
Last night, when boy called and said, "I just don't think it will work out between us," I had a hard time controlling myself. I was not mad or angry. I wasn't sad or upset. What I had a hard time controlling was my laughter. You see, I didn't know there was anything between us to work out.
Seriously, when you are set up and you've only known the kid three weeks, and you've only spent two 1-hour lunch breaks together, and you haven't seen, emailed or talked to him for over half of those three weeks, it really hurts when you get dumped. Especially when you didn't know you were dating.
It was nice of him to call and let me know, though. I'm still laughing about it.

Two-Legged Talking Bugs
Last week I took Jamison and Colette with me to get dinner from Little Caesars. As it was meal time, they were busy and we had to wait in line. While we waited, Jamison started hopping around, jumping on the yellow tiles and trying to avoid the larger masses of white.
Me: "Are you trying to step only on the yellow tiles?"
Jamison: "The black too. I'm stepping only on yellow and black."
Me: "Okay, just don't bug people."
Jamison, after a pause of reflection: "Jill, what are bug-people?"

Sale-ing Free
They had a featurette on "Good Morning America" about 2 ladies who, to save money, started shopping sales and using coupons. They feel they have done so well, that they have started workshops teaching others how to save on the grocery bill. They charge people $25 bucks per workshop.
No wonder they feel like they're saving money; they are robbing people blind.
If you really want to learn how to save, ask my mom. She'll teach you for FREE!
She might not get paid $6.29 for buying $367.49 worth of groceries, but she's pretty darn good.

Bianca and the Boys
Sometimes, I wish my life were more like Bianca's; she has three guys fighting over her. What fun!
Yep. Any Tom, Dick, or Harry would do for me.
Watch it here.
Some girls have all the luck.

From Sighing to Singing
Remember how I was lamenting yesterday about not wanting to do something that I had to do? Well, I no longer have to do it. Yippee!!! I'm so happy, I'm doing bell kicks!!!
We should celebrate!!!

What Do You Do...
when you've been asked to do something and you just don't want to do it? What do you do when you find you are sick of the boredom and monotony, yet when it changes, you wish it would go back to the way it was before? What do you do when you thought something that would be the catalyst to a great opportunity comes but then you find you no longer want that opportunity nor the catalyst and you really have no idea what you want? What do you do?

Party Apologies
I apologize. I know I'm a sloth and did not celebrate Chinese New Year with my friends this year. I missed not having a party with them. I am truly sorry and will gladly repent. I will be sure to have a big party next year. (Hopefully by then I can hang a 喜喜 sign on my door instead of just 福.) :)
I still had to celebrate this new year of the Ox, though, so I invited the family over yesterday. I did a lot of experimentation and we ate well (I think):
This is Nian Gao--Chinese New Year cake. I believe it is supposed to be a little fluffier, darker, and taller, but it wasn't too bad for my first attempt. Hey--you try steaming a cake and see how good it turns out!

Next came the Cashew Shrimp in Oyster sauce. I kind of made it up as I went along and it turned out amazing! I've never really cooked with shrimp before and thought I'd try my hand at something new. I think the picture's pretty.

And don't forget the fish! The fish is the most important dish at Chinese New Year. Yes, this is a trout. And no, it does not taste quite like bass. But it was fun to try. (I don't think you can find good salt water fish in a landlocked state such as ours.)
