Hearing Things

Yesterday, while waiting for the train to depart the station, I was catching up on some much needed Zzz's, floating in and out of consciousness. Suddenly, I jolted wide awake.

I had heard a voice.

"...Change is coming..." it spoke, practically in my ear.

I looked around. No one was near. Everyone was minding their business, talking on their cell phones or playing on their laptops, and I was alone. No one was speaking to me. It was very odd and confusing, especially to my sleep-fuzzed mind. Yet, I had heard a voice and it had spoken to me loud and clear.

What change?! Where? When? How? Tell me more, O Mighty Voice!

And then I heard it. Above me, on the second tier of seats. The child's voice rang out again. "The train is coming!" he shouted, his voice carrying through the silence of self-absorbed commuters.

Train, not Change.

Oh.

That darn speech impediment!!! The kid had me fooled for a second.

A word of advice: When you randomly open the dictionary, try NOT to find a new word that describes you to a T.

Oh, and always read the definition to yourself BEFORE you read it aloud to others.

13 Really Random Thoughts for Friday the 13th

• November really is the best month. Birthdays, Thanksgiving, Fall, cake, turkey, etc.
  
• I have been LOVING this song since the first time I heard it. The lyrics are brilliant.
  
• Sometimes I think waterproof mascara feels like tar on my eyelashes. It doesn't come off easily.
  
• I don't like alarm clocks.
  
• What exactly is a Ring Ding?
  
• I really need unlimited text messaging.
  
• Movie night, anyone? I'm feeling a little "Dan in Real Life".
  
• I need to work on becoming more photogenic.
  
• The natural consequences of staying up late are causing me to suffer, but for some reason, I don't seem to mind.
  
• I put de-tangler spray and two kinds of gel in my hair this morning.
  
• My homework has been staring me in the face all semester. How many more days until it is over?
  
• I have great friends. I'm so excited to hang out with them this weekend!
  
• It has been the BEST Birthday Week ever!

A kid that I am friends with on Facebook just came into my office.

He had no idea who I was, but he did remember that we went to the same junior high. He even told me what class we had together.

Well, at least he remembered that...

Someone called me "Ma'am" yesterday.

I didn't like it.

I know I am practically 26 and I do have a few gray hairs,
