Still Waiting

I called 4 times. No answer. I guess I must wait a little longer.

Waiting

Today I should find out if I got accepted into grad school. That is, I can find out if I call them and ask them if I got in. It's either that or wait for the letter in the mail. I'm really not nervous about it; I should be I'm a shoe in, with my impressive transcript and all. Yet, I can't help but feel a sickening pit in my stomach every time I think about it. Not cool.

Writer's Block

I am trying to write a story. I have this awesome plot and tale, with many thoughts and ideas, roaming around my head, yet I lack the words to express them. Well, it's more like I lack the words needed to get from one point to the next. Therefore, at the moment, my story is very, very short and I am stuck. I went here for a little inspiration. Can I just say that Shannon Hale is my hero? (And not only is she my hero, she is my cousin, too. I am so lucky. (See this post for the full story.)) I'm still stuck, but I feel better.

I did, however, get told today that I have very good syntax. What a compliment! I have always prided myself on my syntax. Thanks for the ego boost, Meg!

Oh, and thanks, Mrs. Riley, for teaching me what syntax is. Got to love AP English.

Perfectly Persuaded

Yesterday, I watched Persuasion. There is just something about the story, the fact that we sometimes do get second chances, that draws me in. And because it captures the emotion perfectly, I deem it one of the best Jane Austen adaptions ever.

I love it!

(And it helps that Captain Wentworth is just plain dreamy.)

When You Wish Upon A Star

Last night I dreamt I was in Italy, my plane having just touched down in Rome.

Dreams come true, don't they?

Manners

I do not think it is cool when someone text messages you at 10:30 pm, just as you are on the verge of sleep. Don't people realize that some of us are actually in bed at that time of night? That we have jobs we have to wake up early for in the morning? Also, do they really need to send 4 text to get their point across? You know, some of us only get 100 text per month. If they are going to use that many, why don't they just call me?

I swear, some people were raised in a barn.

Booking It

I have a long commute. If I take public transportation, it takes me 50 minutes to get to work in the mornings and over an hour to get home at night. That gives me a LOT of time to read.

From my last post, you can see that I have just finished reading North and South. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am now love with the hero, Mr. Thornton. The book before that was Jane Eyre, which is, in my opinion, one of the most compelling and best books ever written.

So now, having read through two fairly heavy pieces of literature, I am in need of a new book to read as I wile away the time on the train. Any suggestions? Leave me a comment with what you think I should read next or what your favorite book is and we'll see what we can do.

So Long, Mr. Darcy

Hello, Mr. Thornton!

My most current read is North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. It is good; really good. I saw the movie first and liked it enough to read the book. And you know what? The book is better.

And if you thought that Mr. Darcy loved Elizabeth, then Mr. Thornton LOVES Margaret.

Oh, to be loved by such a man...

Crossing Boundaries

I'm okay with public display of affection, as long as it is in moderation. Holding hands--cute; a peck on the cheek--sure; a hearty kiss goodbye--as it should be; a whisper and blush--as long as I don't know what is said. But the repeated butt pinch tonight in the spice and herb aisle of Costco as I walked behind you was just a little too much.

Research

According to wikipedia.org, the phrase 'as dead as a dodo' means to be "undoubtedly and unquestionably dead."

Really? Undoubtedly and unquestionably? I had no idea...

Love Taps

Vera has a bad habit of hitting. Yet, how could I be mad at her when every time she would hit me, and I said 'ouch', she would give me a kiss better?

My Mom is Awesome!

If you haven't yet, pick up a copy of the May 7, 2009 Davis County Clipper. Inside, you might just see someone you know.

Congrats, Mom!!

Don't Worry; It's Curry

I made a curry chicken pasta salad yesterday. Yep, you read right; curry, that brownish yellow mix of spices that comes from Southeast Asia. And it was GOOD!! Here is what I put in it:

Chicken
Pasta
Carrots
Green onions
Red grapes
Mayonnaise
Milk
Curry powder
Salt
Pepper
Bay leaf
Olive oil

Easy. Tasty.

Shocked

I somehow managed a B in my Stats class. How did that happen?

The Good News Top Ten

10. The third and final letter of recommendation was turned in, albeit a day or two late.
9. I did not forget to send in my GRE scores.
8. Speaking of GRE scores, the program director thinks mine are awesome. (She must not know that they are barely passable and that I was deathly ill when I took the test).
7. Not only does she like my scores, she thinks my GPA is amazing.
6. The stats class I took at the University of Utah WILL count, so it really doesn't matter how poorly I did in my stats class this semester.
5. Apparently, a B- is passing, though it is lower than a B.
4. Therefore, I do not have to retake my behavior analysis class.
3. Because I do not have to retake behavior analysis, I save myself $633.
2. With my final grades, I do not have to send in a USU transcript to USU.
1. My application is 100% complete.

Look out Grad School! Here I come!!!
